Assessments & Surveys
If you have been scheduled to go through a psychological assessment as part of a hiring/selection or development process, it is normal to feel some apprehension. Keep in mind that the online survey process is only one part of a thorough selection process and it is not a test that you pass or fail.
The purpose of the assessment is to help the organization learn about you. Specifically they want to understand your strengths, your fit for the position and for the organizational culture, and what you need to do in order to grow. It is in your best interests as well as the organization’s that the match is a good one. If hired by the organization, Hyde & Lichter will share the findings of the assessment with you so you can use the information for assimilation and transition, as well as a guide for your development and career planning.
The summary report of your assessment becomes the property of the organization.
What To Expect
If you are a candidate: There is really nothing for you to do to prepare. Get a good night’s sleep and come ready to be yourself and respond naturally. The psychological assessment is only one part of the broader decision-making process. This information will be combined with other data sources such as your interviews with people in the organization, your work experience, your references, and other relevant information.
If you are participating in a developmental assessment: While the process may be very similar to a selection assessment, the focus is upon your career development. The developmental assessment is geared towards understanding your strengths, skills, personality, aptitudes, opportunities, and potential.
The interview you will have with us covers a wide range of job-relevant information. In most cases, who you are as a person heavily influences how you perform as a leader. Because of this, we strive to get to know you in depth. Our process is designed to give us a full picture of who you are. We treat your responses with sensitivity and use them to understand you more fully.
